Peas potato or matar aloo is a vegetarian dish which rose to popularity from the Indian subcontinent. The dish contains aloo and matar which are cooked in a mildly creamy gravy that’s tomato based. This dish is very much liked by vegetarians, and is also popular among non-vegetarians – when they’re looking for a food twist. Matar aloo dish is very much prevalent in the South Asian countries, and people like to have this dish with roti (bread), and sometimes with rice.

  1. Peas: 2 cups
  2. Potatoes: 4 
  3. Onions: 2 
  4. Tomato: 1
  5. Ginger garlic paste: 2 tablespoons
  6. Green chilli: 3
  7. Coriander leaves
  8. Oil: ½ cups
  9. Salt: 1 tablespoon
  10. Red chilli: 1 tablespoon
  11. Turmeric powder: 1 tablespoon
  12. Dry coriander powder: 1 tablespoon
  13. Cumin seeds: 1 tablespoon
  14. Cream: 3 tablespoon

Steps to follow:

  • Add oil in a pan.
  • Fry it for a few minutes.
  • Now at ginger garlic paste.
  • Add chopped tomatoes to it.
  • Add all the dry spices in it then add some water and cover it for 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Now add potatoes and peas to it.
  • Then cook for some time and add cream to it.
  • Now add water to it to make some gravy.

Serving:

Serve it with chapati.
